This organism is a malarial-like organism that is being increasingly found in some people with chronic Lyme disease.
Protomyxzoa is in the “malaria family” of protozoans, along with babesia and malaria. Protomyxzoa, babesia and malaria have a multi-stage life cycle. Like malaria and babesia, protomyxzoa appears to have an immature form that infects red blood cells (erythrocytes), and a mature form that remains in the blood.
We estimate that 90% of our Lyme patients have a concomitant Protomyxzoa infection.
At Health and Wellness of Carmel we have successfully managed thousands of patients with Lyme, Protomyxzoa, and other associated co-infections with excellent success.
The vast majority of our patients can be treated with herbal and other natural treatments. Occasionally patients will respond better with prescription treatment.
