What Can it Do For You?
Red Light Therapy can reverse the appearance of aging skin, enlarged pores and crow’s feet with a light wave that penetrates far beneath the surface of our skin without causing any damage. It also pulls collagen to the surface to fill-in lines. At Health and Wellness of Carmel, we have a 360 bulb, custom-made red light bed. You won’t find one this large anywhere in the region. Others treat areas of the body whereas, ours treats the entire body at once. We also have another, smaller bed for localized treatment if needed.

Medical Benefits of Red Light Therapy
Red Light is thought to work by producing a biochemical effect in cells that strengthens the mitochondria. The mitochondria are considered the engine that powers most of the cells in the human body. It is responsible for energy production by producing ATP.
Red light therapy has been studied for over 50 years. There is evidence that this treatment can have the following benefits:
- Improvement in the endocrine system
- Improvement in immunity
- Tissue repair including wound healing
- Decrease in chronic joint pain
- Improved appearance of aging skin
- Improved hair growth
- Healthy activation of the lymphatic system
Increased Immunity and Reduced Side Effects of Cancer Treatments
Research done by NASA in combination with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital has shown that red light technology can successfully reduce symptoms experienced by cancer patients. Using the red light technology has been shown to release long wavelength energy in the form of photons that stimulate cells to aid in healing.
NASA tested whether HEALS, High Emissivity Aluminiferous Luminescent Substrate, could treat oral mucositis in cancer patients, a very common and painful side effect of chemotherapy and radiation. It was concluded that 96% of the patients experienced improvement in pain as a result of the HEALS treatment. Patients received the light therapy by a nurse holding the WARP 75 device, which is roughly the size of an adult human hand. The WARP device was held close to the patient’s face and neck for only 88 seconds daily for 14 days. The researchers stated, “The HEALS device was well tolerated with no adverse effects to bone marrow and stem cell transplant patients…The HEALS device can provide a cost-effective therapy since the device itself is less expensive than one day at the hospital.”
Health Benefits of Red Light Therapy
The initial effect is clearer, brighter, tighter feeling skin. The long-term effect is improved skin clarity, tone and texture. Fine lines, wrinkles and dark circles begin to decrease as well with the use of red light therapy. Puffiness around the eyes are also reduced, while the effects of environmental damage and chronological aging are minimized.
You will also receive healing benefits as well. Over time, red light therapy will help to restore tired-looking skin and will decrease the appearance of freckles, age spots, acne, smooth the skin’s pigmentation, minimize the size of facial pores, improve the appearance of weathered skin, stimulate collagen synthesis, and improve the skin’s supportive structure.
Are Red Light Treatments Safe? What Does the FDA Say?
According to the FDA, “Red Light” at 633nm has a “Non-Significant Risk” status and is completely safe for the eyes. We do provide goggles as a precautionary and preventative measure for all patients.
How often do I need to use the Red Light Therapy bed to achieve results?
3 to 5 times a week for the first 3 to 4 weeks. Then at 2 – 3 times per week for 3 months. Maintenance after 3 months: 1 to 2 times per week. The more and longer you use it the better results you will get.
Where did Red Light technology come from?
NASA first developed this technology to grow plants in space, then later to treat wounds in space. Today, Red Light Therapy is being used throughout the medical field to assist in healing patients, and used in salons around the world to rejuvenate the skin. This technology does not cause any harm and has minimal side effects. Red Light Therapy is safe and pain free; in fact, many clients come away feeling refreshed after a session. We have a custom-made 360 bulb red light bed. One of the most advanced beds in the country.
Because it can take multiple sessions to achieve results, can I get a discount?
We do offer discounts for patients who purchase multiple session packages. Please ask the receptionist for pricing details
